I have been a driver for 6++ years and it still never fails to AMAZE me the kind of IDIOTS we share the roads with every single day. In light of this premise, in no particular order, I present my personal TOP FIVE WORST AREAS TO BE CAUGHT IN TRAFFIC:
1) PRC - Of course, I have to start closest to where I live. This wide road in front of the race track is one of the trickiest for a sane (read: me) motorist to ply. For starters, there are no lanes whatsoever and this is one area where TRICYCLES are the kings of the road. They come at you from everywhere, at lightning speed, not minding any traffic rules. There are pedestrians crossing at random, there are cars backing out all of a sudden, there are jeepneys making u-turns, AND, as if it's not chaotic enough, there's even a mini-perya - complete with a caterpillar and a Ferris wheel - at the end. It's truly reality DODGEM right in the middle of Makati.
2) KALENTONG - Your patience should be set at HIGH from the foot of Lambingan bridge all the way to Shaw. The jeepneys here have claimed this stretch of road as their terminal, thus turning the usual 10-minute drive into a 30-45-minute test of torture to an impatient person like me.
3) RIZAL AVENUE - BLUMENTRITT to MONUMENTO - This is the WORST area I've driven around in. The drivers here are craziest, most SELFISH bastards ever to be issued PROFESSIONAL DRIVING LICENSES. Driving here makes me want to migrate abroad. Or fire whoever's in charge of the "traffic situation", because his salary is obviously a waste of taxes. Or RUN OVER people.
4) MANDALUYONG CIRCLE - Okay, I hate rotondas in general, but this takes the stinky cake. For some reason, the signal lights of vehicles plying here don't seem to be functioning. That or the BRAINS of the drivers' behind the wheels. And it doesn't help that during the merry month of December, the City Hall turns into an unofficial extension of Greenhills.
5) EDSA - Those effin' buses. Need I say more?
